ASB Philanthropy
The mission of the ASB Philanthropy Committee is to bring students together in order that they may serve the medical community by advancing the well-being of humanity through volunteer work and charitable donations. The following is a brief list of projects in which the ASB is involved:

Habitat for Humanity

A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need.

American Heart Association Heart Walk

As the signature fund-raising event for the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. This year over 1,000,000 walkers will participate in more than 600 events across the country, raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers, heart disease and stroke. Join us next year!

Toys for Tots

Toys are donated through the Salvation Army to children whose parents or guardians are not able to afford presents for them at Christmas.

American Medical Association Allinace

The AMA Alliance is the largest organization representing the family of medicine in the United States. The Alliance network of physicians and physicians’ spouses represents all stages of the medical lifestyle, from the training years to retirement. In addition, the Alliance’s Stop America’s Violence Everywhere (SAVE) program targets the 15 million children in first through fourth grade in every public and private school. Since its inception in 1922, it has been the mission of the AMA Alliance to partner with physicians to promote the good health of America and support the family of medicine.

Join Us for the Walk to Cure Diabetes

JDRF's Walks are family-friendly, held at great locations, and feature plenty of entertainment, food, and fun. We invite you to become one of the 500,000 people at 200 Walk sites nationwide this year who are making a difference in the lives of people with type 1 diabetes. You'll have a great time, get some exercise, and, most importantly, be a part of the cure!

It's up to us to make it happen, one step at a time.

You can also contact JDRF by calling (888) 533-WALK.

Please send any questions or comments to Angel Brown, ASB Community Service Chair.
